Qualifications: Must have knowledge of modern cleaning methods and the use and care of cleaning materials and equipment; ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency; perform heavy physical labor; understand and carry out harmonious relationships with students, fellow employees and the general public.  Preferred one year of experience in school custodial work and classes or experience in the custodial field. 


Reports to:  Facilities Supervisor/ Building Principal
 
Performance Responsibilities:
 
The Custodian I shall:

  1. Perform routine custodial work as assigned.
  2. Set up rooms/area for special events.
  3. Clean walls, furniture, woodwork and other equipment.
  4. Inspect buildings for fire, sanitary and safety hazards.
  5. Make reports and direct visitors.
  6. Make certain buildings (windows, doors) are secure.
  7. Perform laundry work as required (towels, uniforms, etc.).
  8. Open doors for evening social activities as per calendar.
  9. Complete other tasks as assigned by maintenance supervisor
  10. Regular attendance required.

 

Physical Requirements:

In designated hours per day, employee may: sit, stand, and walk to fulfill duty; may use hands for repetitive single grasping and fine manipulation.  May need to bend, squat, climb stairs occasionally, lift minimum standard of fifty pounds.

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Yamhill Carlton School District #1 and Oregon School Employees Association Chapter #171.
