Primary Function: The Head Coach will work collaboratively with students, teachers and parents to build a program that teaches and coaches students who desire to excel in sports and provides them with the opportunity for advanced study and participation under expert guidance in an environment conducive to learning.
 
Responsible to: Building Principal, District Athletic Director.
 
Assigned Responsibilities:

1. Holds organized, supervised practice as the program requires.
2. Teaches the skills/strategies necessary to participate and to be competitive in the sport.
3. Teaches the drills and exercises needed for developing strength, stamina, and speed in the sport.
4. Develops seasonal goals/objectives and daily practice plans.
5. Develops lines of communications with athletes, staff, parents, officials, and Booster Club to promote the sport.  
6. Supervises locker room before and after practice as required.              
7. Ensures adult supervision of athletes before and after practice, games, and on bus trips.
8. Provides for the safety and security of all student athletes.
9. Prepares and submits to the Athletic Director a final season report that includes: 1) Inventory of all supplies, uniforms, and equipment. 2) A list of names for specific awards. 3) A date set for the season ending function. 4) A tentative budget projection for the next season.
10. Adheres to all OSAA Rules and Regulations, the Oregon West Conference SOP’s, and the Yamhill Carlton School Districts’ Policies and Procedures.
11. Follows the Yamhill Carlton School Districts’ purchase order process for all purchases.
12. Attends coaching clinics as requested by building Principal, District Athletic Director.
13. Actively encourages student participation.
14. Promotes the ethical value of athletics and promotes sportsmanship.
15. Maintains a positive working relationship with the Head Coach, School Administration, School Staff, and community that enhances the sport.
16. Monitors academic success of student athletes.
17. Assists with the proper care, maintenance, and security of facilities.
18. Ability and willingness to assist in fundraising.

    
1)    Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least eighteen years of age
• Must complete background check with Yamhill Carlton School District. 
• Current training or willingness to be trained in the following areas:
• NFHS Coaches Education Program Certification
• Concussion Management Certification
• Steroid and Assessment Certification
• First Aid/CPR Certification
• Heat Index Training Certification
• Type 20 Mini Bus CertificatioN
• Online trainings per Yamhill School District Policy.
• Previous coaching experience desirable.

 
Term of Employment: First day of the season until the cycle of responsibility is completed for the season.
 
Salary: If paid coach, based on YCTA Extra Duty Contract.  $4,978 for the 2018-19 per season.
