Description

This posting is for a Self-Contained Special Education Teacher that will work with students in 9th grade through 12th grade.  These students will have moderate to severe behavior disabilities and the teacher will serve as the case manager and implement IEP's according to the needs of the students in the classroom.  This teacher will work with  High School staff to support students during their regular education opportunities and instruction.  An instructional assistant works in the classroom and will need to be supervised and directed according to the needs of the teacher and students.  
 
Performance Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with staff and customers at all organizational levels.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the location and times designated.
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by the law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
  • Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media appropriate to the limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or students involved.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a frequent and regular basis and maintains such records as required by law and District policy.
  • Take all reasonable precautions to provide for the health and safety of the students.
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communications with students and their parents concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of students.
  • Assist in determining and evaluating educational goals consistent with District philosophy and strive to implement those goals by instruction and action.
  • Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods, and the development of the District curriculum.
  • Assist in the selection of textbooks, equipment and other instructional materials.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Attend faculty meetings and participate in them unless suitable arrangements are made with the building principal.
  • Accept a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as requested within the bounds of the normal school day.
  • Strive to achieve professional growth through an on-going programs designed to supplement and enhance teacher ability.
  • Cooperate with other areas of school services (transportation, custodial, maintenance, cafeteria, ESD personnel, etc.).
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with fellow staff members, and is supportive of them in the performance of their job.
  • Meet minimum standards of performance referred to in the O.R.S. and O.A.R.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Adhere to policies of the YCSD.

The District offers a comprehensive benefit package. Extra-Curricular /coaching opportunities available. Salary $44,000 -$76,000 plus a $4,400 Special Education Teacher Stipend and 4 additional paid contract days.
